Taser-Happy Officer McNevin

There's so many taser-happy police these days, it's hard to pick on one. But after the bozos at UCLA, this fella McNevin may take the cake. I know it happened two years ago, but this video is just so much gosh darned fun that it's hard to let it go!

The Palm Beach Post has some good pro-McNevin commentary to go with their video of the incident. Clearly, the big white police officer faces an uphill battle against the small black girl in the car, but he's very generous and gives her all of about 12 seconds before he fires his taser and loads her up with electricity. After all, white men have no history of abusing black girls.

After shooting her many, many times, he sat chit-chatting on the radio in his car while the girl lay bleeding in the back seat (his own admission, by the way). What a lovely man.

Anyway, there are many good blogs about this incident, but on of the best is over at Macewan. It's the comments that really can't be missed, because McNevin's family members show up to defend him. What fun!

After one commenter says, "...Mr. Rich McNevin obviously can not handle authority. He will have to answer for his actions in the end", Kristy McNevin, the policeman's cousin, posts that the victim was "a complete bitch" and then instructs the poster to "keep your damn mouth shut".

Anyone see a family resemblance?

  • Speaks volumes about that mentality. Would everyone be so supportive of the Officer if it had been his cousin in the car and another Officer had pulled her over?

  • My cousin would not have been in the car in the first place. But you dirtbag apologists seem to miss the point. I bet that stupid bitch will be more respectful AS SHE SHOULD BE, next time she gets stopped.

  • Are you sure we were watching the same video? the officer was more than patient, he told her what to do repeatedly and calmly before he used force. What other choices were there?

    - He could have used his baton [X]
    - He could have used mace [X]
    - He could have reached in the car and handcuffed her [X]
    - He could have wrestled her out of the car and subdued her [X]

Instead, he tazes her, an option that leaves no permament injury. Unless you can come up with a better idea, in which case, sell it to the police and retire a rich man.

  • This is a racist statement if I have ever heard one. You are critical of this Officer who acted professionally because he is white and she is black. It has nothing to do with race. It has everything to do with the fact that the woman has a problem with authority, and it becomes apparent as she refuses to obey commands from the police and does what she wants instead of what is required. Wake up people, your actions have consequences, even if you are white.

  • "small black girl in the car"
She was at least 250lbs. You are such a disingenuous liar - it's ridiculous. The woman in the video had plenty of time to comply with his orders. She was lying the entire time as well. WHy on Earth would you waste time defending this ghetto trash? Bizarre to say the least. She brought about her fate by her own choice. Grow up and stop defending her.

  • Such blithering ignorance. First, let's have ANYTHING against a black person automatically be racist.

macewan, you say that if the colors were swapped, people would be complaining. If the colors were swapped, you wouldn't be whining "wah, racism".

First of all, this woman broke the law in multiple places. That's step 1. Step 2, she refused to cooperate. Step 3, she RESISTED ARREST. You'd be bitching if the officer dragged her out of the car using force just the same, crying racism. I guess that if someone is black, they should be allowed to break the law? Give me a freaking break.

About your comment about white men abusing black girls, why don't you look at the CURRENT black on white vs the white on black violence statistics, and then we'll see. I suppose you think that OJ was innocent, too, and that Nicole MADE him run from the cops while holding someone hostage from "beyond the grave".

This boils down to one thing - resisting arrest. And this blog post boils down to one thing - the white man is evil, and anybody else should be able to do whatever they want. Get a life.

  • She was: 1) Speeding 2) Driving with a suspended license 3) Gave attitude.
Did you ignore that fact that McNevin warned her that he would use the taser if she didn't get out of the car 5 times!
Clearly she wanted to get tased.

Also in the full version you see McNevin get his cuffs out first! He only pulled out the taser after she resisted being cuffed.

  • Here is the COMPLETE video with commentary from a BLACK training officer. The suspect was breaking the law at every point of the stop. When you watch the whole video there cannot be a dispute from any "intelligent" person that the officer reacted appropriately.

  • what a bunch of whiners. When a police officer tells you to step out of the car. You should do it, period. Thats whats wrong with all the whinny babies out there. They think its a game until they get arrested and get properly controlled.

  • Sorry guy, but if you watch the video that black girl had an attitude. Talking to the cop as if she knows the law.(Which she didn't) than refusing to do what the officer says. I for one support McNevin.

  • It's got nothing to do with anyone's skin color. She was being hostile, unresponsive, uncooperative, all while still in control of the vehicle. The officer was making a reasonable request (hang up the phone, step out of the vehicle), and she wouldn't follow that request. In some situations (such as traffic stops) you are legally obliged to follow police directions. Not all the time, but during a traffic stop, face it: the cop is in charge and the law backs him up (as it should). After all, it is the officer that is walking into an unknown situation, and he is within his rights to secure his own safety while performing his job.

The ridiculous wording of this blog is seen to be a bunch of blatant lies when you watch the entire video. He gave her more than enough warning. I support the cop. Next time, maybe she'll adopt a better attitude - or maybe she won't and she'll (rightly) get tazed again.

  • How many times do you give a person under arrest a lawful order before applying the necessary force to effect the arrest? This has nothing to do with race. That bitch is just a mad black woman. She got just what she was asking for. The next time she gets pulled over you can best believe she was be saying "Ya-sah Massah." LMAO

  • You colored people have got to learn that you must obey the law or you will face some very harsh consequences. Obey the POlice and teach yo childrens to obey da POlice. Dis time it was da electric taser. Some day it will be da electric chair.

  • This incident and the comments some people left show a very misdirected public that appears to have given up their basic rights and humanities. And yes, I can assure that any of you, had the driver been a friend or family member of yours....you would quickly jump the fence. There is no justification for what this man did and it makes me sick to watch it. Perhaps one day someone will find your demeanor or tone disrespectful, or your compliance too slow and load your ass up with some electricity.

  • Yes, it's just you.
