X-Prize Cup Notes

John Cormack over at Armadillo Aerospace put on a nice show for the crowds at the recently-concluded X-Prize Cup event in New Mexico. Their test vehicle was scheduled for three flights, but tipped over after the first landing, causing the remaining two flights to be scrubbed.

Also of note was the demonstration of the Rocket Racing League machines -- rockets carrying one pilot designed for high-altitude races. Wish I could have been there!

Hilton Hotels Kick Out Katrina Survivors

Those darn Katrina evacuees. They insist on having shelter and extra stuff like water and light. It's about time that hotels like Hilton kick them out and put them back on the streets.

(That's sarcasm, just in case it wasn't clear.)

I don't mean to pick on Hilton, as I'm sure many hotels are wondering how long they will be expected to house Katrina survivors. But really, guys, do you need to call the cops on them? Don'tcha think they've been through a lot already?

I guess Paris needs a new outfit for her latest TV show.
